Challenge

Electrolux are a leading global appliance company dedicated to continuously rethinking and improving ways of working. The new Victorian distribution centre needed to reflect this ambition as well as the company’s purpose to shape living for the better and meet a global commitment to sustainability. An essential requirement for the new facility was a location that minimised first and last mile transport costs whilst still accommodating the needs of staff. These needs included innovative technologies and enhanced operating procedures to reduce the risks associated with occupational health and safety areas. JLL was tasked with helping Electrolux source a new distribution centre to cater for their next 10 years of growth.

Approach

JLL’s industrial brokerage team, tenant representatives and supply chain consultants collaborated to deliver the project, with design and project management services incorporated within the property brief resulting in zero upfront cost to Electrolux.

We completed a supply chain review and confirmed Electrolux’s operations strategy, with an emphasis to ensure the new distribution centre’s operations would improve safety, minimise interaction between pedestrians and material handling equipment, increase productivity and service capacity. A competitive property procurement approach, informed by a detailed specification brief including technical, environmental, and legal requirements, ensured the new warehousing facility would meet Electrolux’s requirements now and into the future.

Result

The collaborative approach across JLL teams on this project provided Electrolux with the opportunity to make a step change in operations to support their sustainability ambitions in their new facility located in Ravenhall, Victoria. The user-friendly facility has improved the way staff work and includes warehousing, offices and a product showroom with leading-edge sustainability, safety, and performance credentials – including a 6 Green Star energy rating. The supply chain transport savings achieved enabled Electrolux to invest in safety, sustainability and fit out with further investment in these areas in the future.
