Bryce Cooper

When she’s not smashing out bids, Bryce is an avid reader and keeps fit through “commuter walking”, biking and swimming, while also assisting her 92-year old mother at home.

After living in the US for 28 years, Bryce and her family moved back to Australia in 2012 to be near her mother. With a background in marketing and business development in the design and construction industry in the US, JLL was a perfect fit – and as a dual Australian American, it’s a plus that JLL’s headquarters are in Chicago, her favorite American city.

Bryce and her husband recently moved in with her mother so she can continue living in the house she and Bryce’s dad built in 1953. Bryce and her husband now have new responsibilities including home maintenance and gardening, and getting to know the resident brush turkey that rearranges the leaf mulch under the trees. Her mother (who still makes her trademark marmalade) is benefiting from a more varied diet, more activity and more social engagement on a daily basis – elements critical to quality of life for people in their 80s and 90s.

“My mother needs increasing support. Medical appointments can take time and always involve clothing and equipment, so daughters are a great help for elderly women. But my deadlines can be anything from a matter of hours to six intense weeks for the big ones, putting time at a premium. Thanks to JLL’s flexible working policies and technology, I can work at home on my deadlines while accommodating mum’s medical appointments.”

One of the key factors that make Bryce’s role work: “Our technology tools and the assertive support of my manager, Ala Hvozdzeva, for our bid team’s collaborative approach. No matter when and where the team is working, whether that be in the office or from home, we are always supported and empowered to do what is needed to get the work done.” Having the flexibility to work anywhere means Bryce can look after her mother and meet proposal deadlines contributing to new work for the growing PDS business.
